Under the agreement, AEW will design, develop, and manufacture the G3-Hybrid electricity meter as agreed with the G3-Alliance for commercial deployment.

Allied Engineering Works Limited (AEW), one of India’s fastest-growing smart metering companies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the G3-Alliance, a global not-for-profit organisation promoting G3 communication technology for smart grid applications.

The collaboration aims to develop a G3-Hybrid electricity meter, integrating Power Line Communication (PLC) and Radio Frequency (RF) technologies into a unified mesh communication architecture. The solution is intended to support both international smart metering markets and India’s rapidly expanding smart grid ecosystem. Under the agreement, AEW will design, develop, and manufacture the G3-Hybrid electricity meter as agreed with the G3-Alliance for commercial deployment. The meter will comply with applicable regulatory standards, while also meeting the interoperability and certification requirements defined by the G3-Alliance. The collaboration is expected to accelerate into the global G3 ecosystem and support the deployment of standards-based hybrid communication solutions for next-generation smart grids.

Commenting on the pact, Ashutosh Goel, Chairman and Managing Director of AEW, said, “India and global utilities are rapidly moving toward interoperable and standards-based smart grid technologies. This collaboration with the G3-Alliance represents an important step in enabling hybrid PLC and RF communication solutions that improve network reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency. We believe the G3-Hybrid platform will help accelerate the deployment of next-generation smart metering infrastructure.” Adding to it, Marc Delandre, Chairman of the G3-Alliance, said, “We are very pleased to begin this collaboration with AEW to develop a G3-Hybrid electricity meter. AEW has established itself as one of India’s fastest-growing and most respected smart metering companies, making it an excellent partner to introduce G3-Hybrid technology to the Indian market and beyond. By combining power line communication (PLC) and radio frequency (RF) into a single, interoperable mesh network, G3-Hybrid provides utilities with a highly robust and interoperable communication solution. The technology is already being deployed in many countries worldwide, and we are confident it will prove to be a strong fit for smart metering in India as well as other international markets targeted by AEW. We look forward to seeing the first ‘Made in India’ G3-Hybrid meter emerge from this collaboration.”
